There is a city named Mithi in the Tharparkar district of Pakistan, which is about 875 kilometers away from Lahore, Pakistan. Looking at its distance from India, this city is about 340 kilometers away from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. A unique example of Hindu-Muslim unity can be seen in Mithi city. The total population here is about 87 thousand, in which about 80 percent people are Hindus. It is said that whenever any religious festival or cultural event is held here, Hindus and Muslims take part in it together.

It is said that here Hindu-Muslim celebrate Diwali and Eid together. People of the Hindu community take part in the Muharram procession and sometimes keep fasts along with the Muslims. At the same time, respecting the religion of Hindus, the Muslims here do not slaughter the cow. Even they do not eat beef. The crime rate here is very low as compared to other cities of Pakistan. The crime rate here is only two percent and the most important thing is that religious intolerance is never seen here.

Muslims left the city

There are many temples in Mithi, of which the Shri Krishna temple is the most famous. It is said that azaan is not done loudly on loudspeakers here during worship and bells are not rung in temples during namaz. The Muslims here say that in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, when the Indian Army reached Mithi, they had to flee overnight. However, the Hindus here persuaded them to stay here again and after that they came to live here again.
